Automatic Self-Weight¶
Edit > Self-Weight opts into automatic gravity loading in a chosen load case, with a positive multiplier and total unfactored weight in the current force units. Frame members receive global downward FY uniform loads using their own weight density times section area. Truss weight is lumped equally to the two end nodes; it never creates transverse member bending. Zero-density members contribute no weight. The case must appear in a combination to affect that combination; combination factors apply normally. Existing manual loads are additional, so do not also enter the same member self-weight manually. Generated loads appear as read-only entries in the structure tree and respect case visibility filters. They are recalculated after material/section changes and member splitting, not duplicated as editable project loads. Disabling or changing self-weight is undoable and invalidates results; case renaming follows the reference, and a referenced case cannot be deleted. Density is weight per volume, not kg/m3; do not multiply it by gravity again. Member load positions are fractions measured from the start node.
