Saving and Undo History

File > Recent Projects refreshes when the File menu opens and shows up to ten unique project paths. Full paths appear in tooltips/status text. Unavailable files are labelled and disabled, retaining entries for temporarily disconnected drives until you choose Remove Unavailable Entries. Clear Recent Projects clears only the history list. Neither action deletes project/recovery files or changes the open model, its dirty state or undo history. Recent-file opens still use the normal unsaved-change prompt. A file that disappears after the menu opens reports its unavailable location before prompting to discard work. Malformed history preferences are ignored instead of preventing startup.

Example history: Portal is available; Slabs is unavailable. Remove Unavailable Entries removes the grey entry; Clear Recent Projects empties the list. Project files remain on disk.

  • Save/Open uses versioned .pynite.json project files. Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z undo and redo model edits. Delete removes the selected entity and its dependent members/loads. Unsaved changes are marked in the title and checked on exit.
  • File > Examples > 2D Frames > Simply Supported Beam loads a 420-inch beam with a 10-kip downward midspan load. Each support should react with 5 kip. In SI the same physical example displays a 10.668 m span, 44.4822 kN load, and 22.2411 kN reactions.
